WAYS TO STAY HEALTHY - PART 1
1. Measure and Watch Your Weight
Keeping track of your body weight on a
daily or weekly basis will help you see what you’re losing and/or what you’re
gaining.
2. Drink Water and Stay Hydrated, and
Limit Sugared Beverages
Drink water regularly to stay healthy, but
there is NO evidence that drinking water frequently (e.g. every 15 minutes) can
help prevent any viral infection.
3. Make sleep a priority
Sleep is vital for every process in
your body. Sleep is a time for your body to repair cells and restore energy.
Your brain also performs many essential functions while you’re sleeping, like
storing information, removing waste, and strengthening nerve cell connections.
How much sleep you need depends on your
age, but for most adults, the CDC recommends Trusted Source at least
7 or more hours of sleep each night. Children and older adults typically need
more sleep. If you don’t get enough sleep, your body will have a harder time
working properly. Sleep deprivation can lead to high blood pressure,
cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, anxiety,
depression, mood changes, a weakened immune system and some types of
cancer
4. Limit Unhealthy Foods and Eat Healthy
Meals
Do not forget to eat breakfast and choose
a nutritious meal with more protein and fiber and less fat, sugar, and calories
5. Exercise with a friend
Working out with a friend can help you to put in longer hours and push your limits, and always makes exercising more fun. Consider an outdoor workout or set each other challenges to try separately - and hold each other accountable in regular catch-ups. You could even hold an exercise session with a group of people, in person or over video chat.
