HOW TO PERFORM WELL IN PHYSICS - PART 2
4. Always Account for Small Details
Every
physics problem is a model of real-world situations, and they simplify the way
things work to make the situation easier to understand. However, this means
that the forces that can change the answer to the problem, such as drag and
friction, will be deliberately left out. The tutor will, in most cases, leave
out the details to test your understanding. This comes to build on the fact
that you need to memorise small details that will ensure you get the most
accurate answer.
5. After class: Practice, practice,
practice!
Problem
solving is crucial to your success in physics, and the best way to prepare is
to practice. The more practice problems you complete, the better your
understanding of the material. As you are solving practice problems, do as much
as you can on your own, then check your work with a TA, tutor, professor, or
solution manual to make sure you’re approaching the problem in the correct way.
Checking your work and getting feedback is crucial you don’t want to practice
solving the problems incorrectly. While practicing, be sure to focus
specifically on how to set up problems, since this is often one of the
trickiest parts of physics problems. Think about which physics principle, law,
or equation to use, and attempt to define the system and choose a reference
frame if relevant.
6. Strengthening your math skills
There are a number of mathematical parameters that are utilized in physics. If you have the capability to handle and solve many problems and formulas, then you can master physics quite easily. Studying maths parallel with physics can help you understand and solve mathematical problems in physics.
