Importance of doing
Examinations
1. Get
familiar with the types of questions
Past
papers help you to spot certain types of questions and recognise them.
Understanding how questions are structured and what they’re asking makes life
easier in exams when you’re faced with lots of questions to sort through!
2.
It helps you to
mark out your weak area
Have you finished reading your school notes, and do
you want to do thorough practice for your upcoming exam? Find past exam papers and
utilize them. Try and solve the questions without consulting your class notes.
Afterward, mark for yourself or ask your tutor to
do it. You will get the result and know where you went wrong. This will guide
you on where you need to put extra effort before sitting for your upcoming
exams.
3. Discover
useful areas of focus for revision
Which
areas of the syllabus are you strong in? Which areas would you like to improve?
Doing past papers can help you get a feel for your stronger and weaker areas.
Knowing this can help you structure your revision to make the most of your
study time.
4. Good
way to practice writing
If your revision notes are all in bullet points, then completing past papers is a good way to practice putting that information you have learnt in to paragraphs. Being able to communicate your knowledge clearly is just as important as knowing the knowledge itself.
