BENEFITS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN
1. Eternal
life
One of
the inevitable things we all face is death. Even when death seems a relief,
there is much doubt over what it will mean. The promise of Jesus is that
whoever believes in him will have eternal life.
(John 3:16)
2.
Peace in times
of trouble and confusion
The Lord doesn’t just give us hope for a better
future, He actively wants us to come to Him when we’re feeling anxious and
needing peace. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to cast our anxiety on the Lord because He
cares for us. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us how to obtain the unexplainable peace
from Jesus that can guard our hearts and minds. Even in the times when it won’t
make sense HOW we’ll feel peace in the midst of uncertain or scary
circumstances, we WILL receive peace because the Lord will give it to us. As
Christians, we can’t avoid all stressful or bad situations, but we can find
peace in the midst of them when we ask the Lord for help.
3. Receive victory over sin and all the
things that make you miserable
All the misery in the world is a result of sin. As
Christians, we are called to get victory over all conscious sin. In other
words, we can be free from everything that makes us miserable! Impatience,
anger, lust, jealousy – these are not pleasant things to experience. Living
according to your sin is like grasping at the wind; it will only leave you
empty and miserable and constantly needing more, reaching for the satisfaction
of your lusts that seems so close, but will never be enough.
4. Enjoy the
Boundless Love of God
Another
benefit of being a Christian is that you enjoy the boundless love of God.
Regardless of your current circumstances, there is a certainty that God loves
you, has chosen you, and identifies you as his child, according to Ephesians 1:
4–5. It is important as a Christian to disregard any deceptive notion planted
by others or adversaries. Instead, strengthen your faith in God to neutralize
them.
5. A
relationship with God.
We
have peace with God through the work of Christ. The forgiveness of our sins
means that we are now free to relate to God and to know God.
(John 14:20; Ephesians 2:17-18)
