2. EQUATIONS AND REMAINDER THEOREM
PERFORM BETTER IN ADDITIONAL MATHEMATICS - PART 3
7.
Beware of The Snowball Effect
A
Math has several major and big topics that combine several skills sets or
techniques. These topics cannot be allowed to snowball, because they may one
day grow to be too much to unpack. This is because the interconnectedness
amongst the A math topics is significant. The lack of understanding will cause
a chain effect with subsequent topics as well.
8.
Pay attention and ask questions
Do
not memorize concepts. Do not be afraid or shy to ask your teacher to repeat
the explanation if you do not understand any formula or step. I am fortunate to
have an experienced Additional Mathematics teacher. She often explains in great detail every
new topic and ensures we try solving a few questions after listening to her. Having
a strong grasp of fundamental Additional Mathematics concepts is key to solving complicated
problems. Revise the topic on the same day you learn the concepts while your
memory is still fresh.
9.
Detail the working steps
You'll
be provided with ample space in your answer booklet, and that's because you
need to show your workings from start to end! State the formula you'll be
using, and include it in your workings. Let's say you needed to find the
coordinates of point P which divides the straight-line AB in the ratio AP: PB.
Remember to state the Coordinate Geometry formula to find a point dividing
a segment of a line.
