HOW TO IMPROVE AGRICULTURE – PART 4

13. High-Quality Seed Stock

Vigorous seeds, climate-specific seeds or genetically-appropriate livestock suitable for a farm’s specific conditions and requirements to help increase yields.

14. Raised beds

Traditional farming systems place crops in separate rows by tractor paths, with permanent beds planting multiple rows of crops within beds of the same width. It creates dense plantations, fewer pathways, and more active growing areas. Raised beds are symbolic of improving the productivity of crops.

15. Improve market access, regulations, and governance
Improving rural infrastructure such as roads is crucial to raising productivity through reductions in shipping costs and the loss of perishable produce. Meanwhile, providing better incentives to farmers, including reductions in food subsidies, could raise agricultural output by nearly 5%.

16. Analyzing Work Operations for Better Planning

Having the ability to analyze all farm operations per specific field, crop, worker, or input helps farmers to make data-driven decisions when they are needed. And here again, farm management software comes as an enormous help. It helps gather and store data from various operations and consolidate information on tasks, resources, yields, and weather conditions into a single platform.
